JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) through the Disaster Information and Communication Data Center has prepared information and communication technology (ICT) equipment to deal with potential disasters at the peak of the dry season.

Holds Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Equipment Readiness on Monday, August 16 at the BNPB logistics warehouse, Sentul, West Java.

"According to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the peak of the dry season is predicted to occur in August. As a result, dry hydrometeorological disasters such as forest and land fires will experience an increase in the number of incidents," said Acting Head of the Center for Disaster Data, Information and Communication. BNPB Abdul Muhari quoted by Antara, Tuesday, August 17.

Abdul said the equipment was also prepared to face the start of the 2021 rainy season.

There are five ICT tools prepared, including the Satellite Communications Car (Komob), Fly Away, ACU 1000, Radio Codan, and the eLTE Rapid System. The function of this technology is to provide internet connection, radio communication, and interconnection of communication devices.

Some of these technologies have spread to the regions, one of which is the Satellite Communications Car. The car is already available in all 34 provincial-level BPBDs in Indonesia.

In addition, this activity is also intended to increase capacity and train the readiness of human resources or personnel who will be tasked with operating the ICT equipment in disaster management missions.

"Communication is crucial during emergency response situations. Communication technology has a very important role in delivering disaster information, where communication networks are often disconnected. Adequate, fast, and appropriate technology is needed and the involvement of various related parties," said Abdul.

It is hoped that this information and communication technology can be used and implemented to accelerate the handling of disaster emergency response. One of them is to transmit data and real situations in the field.
