RI 76th Anniversary Gift, Pertamina Successfully Finds Hydrocarbon Reserves

JAKARTA - Pertamina EP again discovered hydrocarbon gas reserves when drilling the exploration well of West Turtle (WPY)-001 in Samalore Village, Toili, Banggai Regency, Central Sulawesi which began on May 14. This finding is also a gift for the 76th Indonesian Independence Day.

Regional Director for East Indonesia Subholding Upstream Pertamina Awang Blueuardi said that after the Petrophysical Evaluation was carried out on July 10, 2021, the WPY-001 Well reached a final depth of 2,420 meters and 2 intervals of Layer Content Test were proposed.

Exciting results were obtained in the limestone layers of the Minahaki Formation at a depth of 2,315 to 2,324 meters with flow test results of 5.5 mmscfd (gas) and 72 bcpd (condensate). flow of 5.21 mmscfd (gas) and 12 bcpd (condensate). Awang conveyed that the discovery of hydrocarbon reserves in the WPY-001 structure was an encouragement to continue to innovate and strive to provide the best performance.

"The discovery of oil and gas reserves ahead of the 76th Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day is a blessing for the country, we are grateful and continue to be excited for Indonesia to be tough, Indonesia to grow," he said.

VP of Regional Exploration for Eastern Indonesia, Dedy Yusmen, said that Pertamina continues to demonstrate its commitment to search for oil and gas reserves. According to him, this success is the result of joint achievement.

"In addition to the operational side, drilling during the COVID-19 pandemic certainly has higher challenges. Apart from focusing on drilling activities, we also have to ensure the safety and security of workers by implementing strict protocols. However, our steps are made easier with the full support of SKK Migas, Regional Government and other stakeholders," said Dedy.

Currently, Well WPY-001 is preparing for the process of closing the well and it is estimated that the drilling rig will leave the location on August 17, 2021. The next stage will be an evaluation of the resource calculation based on the results of the drilling carried out.

In addition to the Exploration Drilling program, Pertamina's Eastern Indonesia Subholding Upstream Region continues to make various efforts to maximize reserves and production. Various programs are carried out in oil and gas fields including Development Drilling, Well Maintenance Activities and other Operational Activities.

Meanwhile, Corporate Secretary of Upstream Subholding Whisnu Bahriansyah said Pertamina's Upstream Subholding's efforts in its contribution to achieving national energy security,

"In addition to the discovery of hydrocarbon reserves in West Turtle, up to Semester 1 of 2021, Upstream Subholding has recorded additional 1P reserves of 36.3 MMBOE and additional reserves of Contingency Resources 2C reaching 37.8 MMBOE," said Whisnu.

Upstream Subholding also continues to undertake activities to increase reserves through seismic activities and drilling of exploration wells. Throughout January to June 2021, the realization of the 3D Seismic area has reached 201 Km2 and also 2D Seismic along 1,186 Km.

As of June 2021, Upstram Subholding has completed drilling 6 exploration wells. It is expected that by the end of the year the Upstream Subholding will have completed a total of 19 exploration wells.
