JAKARTA - The Asahan Resort Police, North Sumatra has arrested a woman with the initials VP (18) who is suspected of having dumped a baby girl on the edge of a cliff in Asahan Regency. The case was revealed after the baby was found by a local resident who later reported it to the police. "After investigating and examining a number of witnesses, our officers managed to secure the perpetrator," said Putu Yudha, quoted by Antara, Friday, August 13.

Based on the results of the interrogation, the perpetrator admitted that he threw away the baby because he was ashamed that the child was the result of an illicit relationship and his lover who did not want to be responsible. The delivery process was carried out alone. The perpetrator then wrapped the baby and threw it into a ravine, to be precise in a trash heap.

For his actions, the perpetrator is suspected of violating Article 338 of the Criminal Code with a threat of 15 years in prison and the Child Protection Act. "While we have treated the baby at the PT Bridgestone Polyclinic," he also said.
