Mayor Eri Cahyadi Targets Surabaya To Become A Yellow Zone In A Month

SURABAYA - The Mayor of Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi, targets his area to change its zoning status from orange to yellow within a month. Currently, Surabaya has changed its status from the red zone to the orange zone.

"This next Monday, we will hold a meeting with all Forkopimda, this is an effort to discuss how Surabaya will soon descend, from the orange zone to the yellow zone within one month," said Eri, in Surabaya, Friday, August 13.

In addition, said Eri Cahyadi, next week's meeting will also discuss breaking the chain of Covid-19 spread in his area. So he needs a lot of input, suggestions from various parties so that Surabaya is a yellow and even green zone.

Eri Cahyadi considers the yellow zone important, so that the economy can get back on track and the welfare of the people of Surabaya can be realized immediately. Therefore, he and Forkopimda will fight desperately to get to that point.

"Gotong royong is our passion, and that is what keeps us moving. Inshallah we and Forkopimda will fight to the death," he said.

To reach the yellow zone, the number one person in the Surabaya City Government will start suppressing COVID-19 starting from upstream to downstream. For example, starting with the preparation of Bed Occupancy Ratio (BOR) in every hospital to healthy homes in every kelurahan, as well as intensifying socialization to residents to remain disciplined in health protocols (prokes) wherever they are.

"If we cut the upstream and the downstream, we will prepare it, God willing, it will be completed. For BOR, Alhamdulillah, we have prepared it," he said.

Based on recorded data, today's BOR in Surabaya has dropped to 65 percent. Eri said, this number can be kept down by providing sufficient BOR for COVID-19 patients.

For example, RSUD dr Moh Sowandhie has prepared 50 percent of the BOR for COVID-19 patients, but if the bed is not used, it will be used by patients with other diseases.

"Then for additional health workers (nakes) in Surabaya, I think it is enough because the health workers are not only from the city government. But a combination of the TNI, Polri and the prosecutor's clinic, then there are also health workers from hospitals throughout Surabaya. This is mutual cooperation," he said.

To make all of this a success, Eri Cahyadi asked the people of Surabaya to pray for everything to run smoothly. For him, togetherness will be new if the citizens and all leaders unite to fight for future steps, especially how to accelerate Surabaya to become a yellow and green zone in the future.
