Rizieq Shihab Is Not An Example Of A Law-abiding Citizen, Aziz Yanuar Stops The Courts And Muslims Fighting

JAKARTA - University of Indonesia (UI) lecturer Ade Armando gave strong criticism against one of Rizieq Shihab's lawyers, Aziz Yanuar. This follows accusations and various claims made by Aziz why his client has not been released.

Aziz said the detention of Rizieq Shihab was an example of abuse of law that violates human rights, destroys and injures the sense of justice and oppresses scholars as well as Muslims. In fact, Aziz said, Rizieq's detention was a form of oppression just because he had a disagreement with the authorities.

With a cooperative attitude during detention, good behavior for example being able to invite other prisoners to pray diligently to deploying a personal health team to help deal with COVID in the prison environment, the court has no reason to detain Rizieq Shihab. Or concerns about escaping to the loss of evidence.

According to Ade Armando, Aziz's reasoning is too much (exaggerating, red). It is certainly not easy for the public or the court to forget Rizieq's actions so far.

In the trial of the Petamburan and Megamendung Bogor cases, for example, Rizieq used a lot of insults or insults to the prosecutors and the police. The most epic is Rizieq's flight to Saudi Arabia for 3 years.

"Then Rizieq admitted to completing his dissertation (In Saudi Arabia), then admitted that he was threatened by the regime, then admitted that he was asked by the Saudi government. When he returned to Indonesia he was not cooperative, he was clearly lying," said Ade Armando via CokroTV's Youtube channel. quoted Friday, August 13th.

Of course, with this track record, it will be considered by the court. Moreover, Ade Armando asserted, the kindness that Rizieq did during his detention did not have a direct relationship with his legal case.

"Asis also likes to exaggerate. He deliberately tries to pit Muslims against the courts, he easily accuses that the high court's decision not only injures human rights but also oppresses the ulama and Muslims, this is a very low accusation," said Ade Armando.

"Never mind, don't continue to use excuses as if Rizieq is a leader of Muslims who wants to uphold Allah's verses. If he is a scholar, he should know that many things that have been done so far are things that harm Muslims," said Ade Armando.

Rizieq Shihab has been detained since December 9, 2020, in connection with the Petamburan crowd case. If calculated from the date Rizieq went to prison for the Petamburan case with a sentence of 8 months in prison, Rizieq should have been released. In the Megamendung crowd case, Rizieq was sentenced to a fine of Rp. 20 million.

The objection raised by Aziz Yanuar regarding the case of the Bogor UMMI Hospital where Rizieq was sentenced to 4 years in prison. While waiting for the appeal case, Aziz asked the court to temporarily release Rizieq.

After all, while in detention, Rizieq was cooperative and even gave a lot of help to other prisoners. However, the High Court was not in line. The High Court stated that Rizieq must still be detained for a period of 1 month until September 7, 2021. In that 1 month, it is hoped that the appeal decision can be completed.
