JAKARTA - The government has allowed malls or shopping centers in four cities that have implemented PPKM Level 4 to reopen. The cities are Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang and Surabaya.

Visitors are allowed to enter the mall as long as they have carried out the vaccination, at least the first dose. The vaccination certificate is shown through the PeduliLindung application provided by the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes).

Each account that is entered in this application requires filling in the citizen identification number (NIK) for Indonesian citizens. Then, what about foreign nationals (WNA) who do not have a NIK?

Chairperson of the Jakarta Indonesian Shopping Center Management Association (APPBI) Ellen Hidayat said foreigners could still enter the mall without using the PeduliLindung application. However, the foreigner must still have been vaccinated.

"Foreigners who will enter the mall only need to show a digital COVID-19 vaccination certificate which was carried out abroad, plus the appropriate identification," said Ellen to VOI, Wednesday, August 12.

Ellen said this provision had been compiled in the basic guidelines for mall managers in implementing PPKM which had been approved by the government. This, said Ellen, is a solution because the PeduliLindung application does not yet have data on foreigners who have been vaccinated.

"Overseas vaccination certificates cannot be integrated with PeduliLindung," he said.

In addition, said Ellen, children under 12 years old and over 70 years old are not allowed to enter the mall. The maximum visitor capacity is 25 percent with the provisions of operating hours starting at 10:00 to 20:00 WIB.

"Food and beverage dine-in has not been opened, it is only allowed to take away. Cinemas, entertainment, and children's games have not been opened," said Ellen.

Lelih continued, Ellen said, currently there are 70 malls in Jakarta that have received a QR code for the operation of checking vaccination certificates. This week, the use of QR codes is still in an experiment even though it has been implemented.

"This week is QR code trial week and is a week of socialization for the community. This additional health protocol procedure will continue to be perfected by PeduliLindung," said Ellen.

"Currently, the government has assigned a shopping center to start first, which in the future will also be used for industry and other business actors," he continued.
