JAKARTA - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in collaboration with the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) has developed an anti-radicalism program through the tourism sector and the creative economy.

"There are several areas that BNPT has chosen to become the Archipelago Integrated Special Area (KKTN) as a soft approach to preventing the development of radicalism and terrorism," said Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno in a press statement Wednesday, August 11, as quoted by Antara.

A number of areas that have potential in the tourism and creative economy sectors are Bima in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) and Malang in East Java.

Sandiaga said, there are several programs at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy that can be synergized with the BNPT program. Among them are the development of tourist villages, the development of creative hubs, as well as assistance and training related to skill development in the tourism sector and the creative economy.

For example, he said, Bima has a Maria tourism village in Wawo District which its potential can be developed. Also, training and technical guidance from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy can be synergized with the BNPT anti-radicalism program.

Sandiaga explained that Bima is under the coordinating area of the Labuan Bajo Flores Tourism Agency (BPOLBF) of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, because two of its sub-districts are included in the Komodo Biosphere Reserve Area.

"So we must continue to improve our synergy and cooperation with BNPT," he said.

The Head of BNPT Komjen Pol. Boy Rafli Amar said that Bima was one of the priority areas for the implementation of the anti-radicalism program.

“This KKTN is a means of soft approach based on welfare development as our effort in the context of deradicalization. This year, we are preparing two KKTN, namely East Java and NTB," he said.

Furthermore, he stated that there were three pillars of activities carried out at the KKTN location. Namely, economic activities, education, and tourism.

"Because there is tourism development in the KKTN, so we are coordinating with the Minister (Sandiaga Uno). Hopefully, there will be support from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to be present together at the location," he concluded.
