PPKM Level 4 Extended By A Week, Deputy Governor Of DKI: Hopefully Cases Decline More Significantly

JAKARTA - The government has extended the implementation of PPKM in Java and Bali from August 10 to 16, 2021. Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria hopes that the extension of PPKM Level 4 can reduce cases more significantly.

"Hopefully, with an extension for the next week, the decline will be even more significant, so that we can break the chain of transmission of COVID-19 in Jakarta," said Deputy Governor Riza at City Hall, Central Jakarta, Monday, August 9.

Currently, Riza admits that active cases in the capital city continue to decline. Bed occupancy ratio (BOR) for isolation at the COVID-19 referral hospital is 39 percent and the ICU is 65 percent.

"This is a good sign. For that, don't slack off, don't ignore it, strictly implement health protocols," he said.

So far, DKI has vaccinated 8,507,635 people (95.2 percent), with the number of people being vaccinated in 1 day dose as many as 136,445 people.

Then, the total dose 2 has now reached 3,532,646 people (39.5 percent), with the number of people being vaccinated with the 2-day dose as many as 116,682 people. There is also a vaccination target in DKI Jakarta at this time of 8,941,211 people.

Although cases have decreased, Riza reminded that Jakarta is a center of interaction, ranging from business, trade, to education. Therefore, Jakarta still has the potential to experience an increase in cases of ssiring with high mobility.

"The potential for people to come to Jakarta from abroad is very fast, there is the potential for crowds and eventually the spread of COVID. For that, we ask residents to stay at home," he explained.

It is known, in the extension of the PPKM in Java-Bali, there were 26 cities or regencies that dropped from level 4 to level 3. This shift in the level of handling the pandemic was seen from the significant improvement in conditions in the field.

Although the rules are the same as before, the extension of the PPKM in Java and Bali was carried out with a number of easing. First, the government allowed the opening of malls or shopping centers in four cities.

The government will conduct gradual trials for malls or shopping centers in areas with level 4 in the city of Jakarta, Bandung Surabaya, Semarang, with a capacity of 25 percent over the next week and with strict health protocols.

The government emphasized that only people who have been vaccinated can enter the mall and must use the PeduliLindung application. Then, children under 12 years old and over 70 years old will be prohibited from entering the mall temporarily.

In addition, the government is also preparing protocols for export-based essential industries so that starting the week it can be operated in cities that implement PPKM Level 4 with a capacity of 100 percent of staff and divided into at least two shifts.

Furthermore, the government has also allowed places of worship in areas that implement PPKM Level 4 with a maximum capacity of 25 percent or a maximum of 20 people.
