JAKARTA - The Beiji Depok police managed to catch the iron thief covering the sewers who are often reported missing.

The perpetrator with the initials MUH was arrested when he was about to carry out his action on Jalan Raya Margonda, Depok.

As stated by the Beji Police Chief, Agus Khaeron, the arrest of the perpetrators of MUH originated from a number of witnesses who passed on Jalan Raya Margonda. Residents saw three men stealing.

"The iron grill (iron covering the sewers, ed) is being taken by three perpetrators and we have secured one perpetrator," said Agus Khaeron, Monday, August 9.

It turns out that MUH is not alone, he is with his partner who has not been caught. Agus explained that the perpetrators used angkot vehicle number 129 or the Mekarsari-Pasar Minggu route when they acted.

The perpetrators managed to escape with the stolen goods when residents approached them.

"Residents had chased towards Jakarta using motorbikes but lost their tracks. Finally, we managed to catch one of the three perpetrators. At this time we are still investigating the perpetrators," he continued.

From the results of the examination, the perpetrator admitted that he had done several times on Jalan Raya Margonda. The reason is that the perpetrators were desperate to steal to meet their needs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
