JAKARTA - Through a video of the brawl circulating on social media, the Tebet South Jakarta Police Sector immediately hunted down two groups of youths in the Tebet area. The brawl took place right in front of SMP 115, Jalan KH. Abdullah Syafii, Ros Tebet Field, South Jakarta on Sunday, August 8.

Tebet Police Commissioner Alexander Yurikho Hadi said the perpetrators of the brawl carried sharp weapons.

Alex said the incident started when a motorcycle group from East Jakarta met with a group of people at the scene.

"There was a group of motorbikes coming from the direction of East Jakarta, meeting some people along Jalan KH Abdullah Syafii," said Alex.

Furthermore, Alex said that there were dozens of youths involved in the clashes who carried sharp weapons. He also emphasized that no one was acting on behalf of any group related to the clashes.

"No one in the name," continued Alex.

At the time of the incident, four police officers at the location took action based on a priority scale so that the officers could not arrest one of the perpetrators.

"We are trying to secure it, but only four personnel are on standby at the location. With the principle of priority scale, we will disband first," added Alex.

Previously, a video uploaded to the Instagram account @jakartaselatan24jam showed a number of youths throwing stones at each other and carrying sharp weapons. The location is under the pedestrian bridge (JPO) in front of SMP Negeri 115 Jakarta.

"Precisely in front of SMP N 115, under the bridge (JPO). The perpetrators used stones, knives and other hard objects," said someone in the video.

The clashes did not last long. The police managed to break up the clash. "The clashes can be dispersed by the police with the help of the residents," he said.
