Alert, BMKG Says Weather In Some Areas Of Indonesia Will Be Heavy Rain, Jakarta Light Rain

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued an early warning of weather forecasts. Heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds could potentially occur in several parts of Indonesia, on Sunday, August 8.

In information quoted from the BMKG website on Friday, the potential for moderate to heavy rain was warned for the provinces of Aceh, Bengkulu, Jambi, Lampung, Riau, West Sumatra, South Sumatra, Banten, West Java.

Similar conditions are also predicted in the provinces of West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, West Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Maluku, West Nusa Tenggara, West Papua.

BMKG conveyed that cyclonic circulation was observed in the West Indian Ocean of Sumatra which formed a meeting area and slowing of wind speed (convergence) was observed in the western waters of West Sumatra to Bengkulu.

Another area of cyclonic circulation is observed in the Pacific Ocean east of the Philippines. Other convergence areas are observed extending from the west coast of Aceh to North Sumatra, in Bengkulu, from northern Central Kalimantan to northern Kalimantan, from western Central Java to Banten, from West Papua to North Maluku, and extending in central Papua.

BMKG conveyed that this condition was able to increase the potential for rain cloud growth around the cyclonic circulation area and along the convergence area.

Jakarta Light Rain

Meanwhile, BMKG predicts that some areas in DKI Jakarta will rain with light intensity today. On the official website, in Jakarta, the areas that are predicted to rain with light intensity are East Jakarta and South Jakarta in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, for the other four areas, such as West Jakarta, North Jakarta, Central Jakarta, and the Thousand Islands, clear cloudy skies are forecast.

BMKG also predicts cloudy weather throughout the Jakarta area in the morning with air temperatures ranging from 25 to 34 degrees Celsius.

For the evening, BMKG forecasts sunny cloudy weather in four areas, namely Central Jakarta, East Jakarta, North Jakarta, and the Thousand Islands.

While the other two areas, namely South Jakarta and West Jakarta, are cloudy at night with humidity ranging from 55 to 85 percent.
