SEMARANG - The Central Java Provincial Government hopes that the Ministry of Health will fulfill the request for an additional COVID-19 vaccine quota of 2.4 million doses per week.

"The purpose of increasing the vaccine quota is so that the vaccination target of 28.7 million people by December 2021 can be achieved," said Head of the Central Java Provincial Health Office, Yulianto Prabowo, in Semarang, quoted by Antara, Friday, August 6.

He revealed that the availability of the average number of vaccines was running low based on the results of monitoring carried out by his staff in all districts/cities.

According to him, Central Java does need a fairly large quota of vaccines because the vaccination target must be achieved by the end of 2021.

"Every week we distribute vaccines to regencies/cities. On average, half a million doses per week. Is it enough or less, it's not enough," he said.

Yulianto said the community's enthusiasm was extraordinary in the implementation of the Vaccination Program, including the ability to vaccinate health workers at health centers, clinics and hospitals as well as private services including the TNI/Polri.

"This is extraordinary, so we in Central Java need more vaccines," he said.

This week, Central Java was recorded to have received an additional 600,000 doses of Sinovac vaccine from the central government.

All vaccines received in Central Java have been distributed to each district/city in order to accelerate the vaccination program.
