Peace Invitation For Security Guards Beating Students At GBK, Victims Still Rejected

JAKARTA - The Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Senayan security guard has undergone an examination at the Central Jakarta Metro Police. The man who was reported for the alleged case of beating Zaelani (26), a student at GBK Senayan, Jakarta, is said to have offered mediation to the victim. However, the victim Zaelani still has not received an offer from the security guard.

Member of the Indonesian Education Legal Aid Institute (LBH), Eka Zulkarnaen as the victim's legal assistant, said that the mediation was proposed by the GBK Security Guard on Wednesday, August 4, the night.

"The case should have been held last night. But it hasn't been done yet because the GBK wants to mediate," said Eka when confirmed, Thursday, August 5.

Eka said that that night the GBK Head of Security and the Squad Commander from the security guard were also present, who carried out the beatings. According to Eka, the GBK acknowledged that there was a procedural error that led to the beating.

"They admit there was a procedural error and want this to be amicable to resolve this issue amicably," said Eka.

GBK, he continued, promised compensation for all medical expenses for the victim. However, Zaelani as the victim in this case still has not accepted the offer of mediation.

"The victim is still thinking, has not made a decision. In essence, we as legal assistants leave the decision entirely to the victim," he said.

Previously, it was reported that Zaelani was beaten by the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) security guard. The incident occurred when Zaelani came to GBK to ask the center about the vaccination certificate that he had not received through the Peduli Protect application.

Zaelani was actually confronted by a security guard, that's when the beating occurred. The case is handled by the Central Jakarta Police.
