BENGKULU - Regent Mukomuko Sapuan apologized to residents, especially the husband who brought the body of his wife who was suspected of being positive for COVID-19 on a motorbike because he did not get an ambulance from the local hospital.

"As the regent of Mukomuko, I apologize to the family of the late Ompilawati for the events that occurred at the Mukomuko Hospital last Tuesday," said Sapuan in Mukomuko, as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, August 4.

A husband in Mukomuko Regency was forced to carry his wife's body on a motorbike because he did not get an ambulance from Mukomuko Hospital.

The husband's name is Soni Efendi (42) a resident of Pelokan Village, XIV Koto District and his wife, Ompilawati (38). The incident took place in the early hours of Tuesday, July 3rd.

According to the Regent, in carrying out and providing services, especially health services, the most important thing is the humanitarian aspect.

Regarding the incident that occurred at the Mukomuko Hospital, Sapuan confirmed that he would check with the local hospital to find out what the problem really was.

“We will directly check with the hospital to ascertain what really happened. If there is an officer's negligence, we will certainly reprimand so that incidents like this do not happen again in the future," he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Mukomuko DPRD, M Ali Saftaini, together with the Head of the Mukomuko Police, AKBP Andy Arisandi, visited the family of the deceased in Dusun Baru Pelokan Village, XIV Koto District to express their condolences to his family.

Then they handed over cash and basic necessities to the victim's family as well as collecting information related to the incident when the husband carried his wife's body.

"Previously we had been to the hospital and asked directly to the director of the hospital. Today we are asking for information from the family. In this case, the husband of the deceased, Soni Effendi," he said.
