Vice President Ma'ruf: Congratulations Ginting, Greys/Apri, In Indonesia Everyone Is Proud Of Your Achievements

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin expressed his gratitude to all Indonesian athletes who competed in the Tokyo Olympics. The statement was delivered directly by Vice President Ma'ruf via video call to Chef de Mission Indonesia, Rosan P. Roeslani.

"I want to thank you on behalf of the nation, on behalf of the country, and for all of your struggles," said Vice President Ma'ruf in a statement received by reporters, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, August 4.

In the video call, the Vice President had the opportunity to talk directly with weightlifter Rahmat Erwin Abdullah, badminton athlete Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, and badminton women's doubles pair Greysia Polii-Apriyani Rahayu.

"Ginting, congratulations Ginting. Greys, Apri are also safe. In Indonesia, everyone is proud of your achievements there," said the Vice President.

The Vice President was also touched by the achievements of Indonesian athletes at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics which took place ahead of the 76th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.

"At a time when we are celebrating August 17, when we are experiencing a pandemic, but our athletes especially in badminton, then also weightlifting, we thank you all. I feel touched for your achievements in the Olympics," he explained.

Meanwhile, Rosan expressed his gratitude for the attention of Vice President Ma'ruf through the video call. It continues to evaluate the various sports competitions at the Olympics.

"Thank you, Mr. Vice President, we happen to be evaluating continuously, coincidentally, we are gathering. God willing, tomorrow we will all return to Jakarta, Mr. Vice President," said Roslan.

In the video call, the General Chair of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) Raja Sapta Oktohari, women's doubles badminton coach Eng Hian and weightlifting coach Erwin Abdullah.

At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Indonesia won a gold medal from the Greysia Polii-Apriyani Rahayi pair, a silver medal from Eko Yuli Irawan and three bronze medals from Windy Cantika Aisah, Rahmat Erwin Abdullah, and Anthony Ginting.
