DPR Responds To WHO's Reprimand On Vaccine Equitable Distribution Outside Java-Bali

JAKARTA - Member of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Kurniasih Mufidayati asked the government to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine evenly throughout Indonesia. This is in line with the spotlight of the World Health Organization (WHO) which mentions the gap in COVID-19 vaccination between Java-Bali and other regions in Indonesia.

"Regions that are still far from the target must get proportional rights with other regions. This must be the government's priority," said Kurniasih in her statement, Saturday, July 31.

The PKS politician reminded that citizens have the same right to get vaccines. Therefore, according to him, the government must ensure that the mass vaccination program can reach even remote areas.

"This is also so that the national herd immunity target can be realized at the same time. Do not let any regions fall behind in terms of vaccination. They have the same rights," he said.

Regarding the stock of vaccines, Mufida said that he had encouraged the Ministry of Health to immediately complete the Red and White vaccine.

"We have encouraged the Ministry of Health to be more aggressive in negotiating the procurement of vaccines in Indonesia. And we must encourage the acceleration of red and white vaccines," he said.
