BULELENG - The organizer of the rooster fighting game (tajen) in Bali named Ketut Budi Arjana (53) was sentenced to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) for two hours. He was caught holding a tajen gamble, which was surrounded by residents without distance and masks.

Dandim 1609 as well as Deputy Chair of the Buleleng Regency COVID-19 Task Force Lt. Col. Muhammad Windra Lisrianto said this sentence was to give Arjana an understanding of the difficult task of health workers (nakes) in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Ketut Budi Arjana was reminded to wear a hazmat shirt to give the person concerned an understanding of how difficult the task of health workers is in treating COVID-19 patients in hospitals and other health facilities," he said, quoted from a written statement, Friday, July 30.

This punishment is expected to make the public aware of obeying health protocols as long as the COVID-19 pandemic has not ended. Windra asked the public to be indifferent to the government's hard work in controlling COVID-19. Two of them are complying with PPKM Level 4 and health protocols.

"So that the person concerned has a sense of care and concern for how the government is trying to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic," he said.

Windra considered it inappropriate for Arjana to hold a tajen gamble in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Gambling actually has the potential to create clusters of COVID-19 transmission. Moreover, he said, gambling is a criminal offense.

"So help out and don't do tajen activities that violate the health protocol and can result in the spread of the COVID-19 virus," said Windra.

Arjana is serving a severe sentence for holding a tajen gamble. Namely, a fine of Rp. 1 million, wearing PPE for two hours, and the threat of imprisonment. He is currently undergoing further investigation regarding the crime of tajen gambling at the Sukasada Police.
