KENDARI - The Kendari City Government, Southeast Sulawesi, has prepared assistance of Rp. 300,000 per person for fishermen, workers who have experienced layoffs (PHK), and MSME actors as a result of PPKM level 3.

Kendari Mayor Sulkarnain Kadir said the assistance came from the local government and would be given to people who were really affected by COVID-19.

"We will disburse Rp. 300,000 per person, because we are talking about individuals, not companies, but we are talking about individuals," he said, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, July 28.

Currently the Kendari City Government is collecting data on those who are really affected by micro PPKM as an effort to control the spread of COVID-19.

"We are currently taking data. In our database, there were approximately 8 thousand affected yesterday. However, we will update until Friday (30/7/2021)," said Sulkarnain.

In the data collection process, the local government ensures that the recipient actually exists and is not fictitious and ensures that the person being assisted has a Bank Sultra account number.

The Mayor said that after the data collection was completed, the distribution would be carried out on Monday (1/8/2021) where the distribution would be through a Bank Sultra account so that it would no longer collect large numbers of people in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

"God willing, Monday (1/8) we will distribute it. Because previously we already had the data, they already had an account at the Southeast Sulawesi Bank. So, there is no need to gather people again because it has already been entered into the account," he explained.

The mayor also said that the distribution will be carried out transparently by providing a website so that the public can monitor whether those who receive it really meet the criteria and are indeed entitled to receive it.

"What is clear is not how much we have prepared, but how much is needed, which we will then try to fulfill. This is not talking about the budget, but the number of recipients, that is the most important thing," said Sulkarnain.
