Vaccine Stocks Are Running Low, Even A Number Of Areas In East Java Are Out Of Stock

SURABAYA - The East Java Provincial Government continues to achieve herd immunity or group immunity by holding massive COVID-19 vaccinations. However, vaccine availability is currently running low.

The spokesperson for the East Java COVID-19 Handling Task Force, Makhyan Jibril, said that the overall stock of vaccines in East Java was still 1.067.965 doses. But in some districts/cities, the availability of vaccines is running low.

"Indeed, there are several district cities whose stocks are running low and even run out, so they have not been sent to their respective health centers", said Jibril, confirmed on Wednesday, July 28.

Based on data from the East Java Health Office (Dinkes) as of July 26, the City of Blitar and the City of Pasuruan are the regions that have absolutely no stock or zero doses of vaccine. While Banyuwangi is the area that has the most vaccine stocks, which is 265.000 doses.

The depletion of stocks, said Jibril, is a good sign. This means that the COVID-19 vaccination program is running quickly, and many people are enthusiastic about getting vaccine rations. He said that during Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM), East Java vaccinated 2.441.662 people.

"East Java has vaccinated 2.441.662 residents in just 20 days (Emergency PPKM), whereas previously it took 2 months to vaccinate 2.4 million people", he said.

Jibril invited the public not to worry about the existing vaccine stock. Because the East Java Provincial Government has sent 506.500 thousand doses of AstraZeneca Vaccine to districts/cities. His party is currently waiting for the distribution of additional vaccine doses from the central government.

"We are also waiting for the next shipment to be faster and more plentiful, considering the public's enthusiasm for vaccination has increased dramatically", he said.
