Kejari Surabaya Arrests Couriers Of Oxygen Cylinders Sold At Expensive Prices

SURABAYA - A man with the initials A (19) was arrested by the intelligence team of the Surabaya District Attorney (Kejari) in the Sukamanunggal area. A was arrested for being a courier for oxygen cylinders containing 1 m3 which were sold above the reasonable price.

"The suspect is an employee at PT FM, which is located in the Mulyosari area. According to the suspect's confession, the company is engaged in the sale of medical devices (Alkes)," said Surabaya Attorney General, Anton Delianto, when confirmed, Tuesday, July 27.

Anton explained that the chronology of the arrests began when his party received information from the public that there was a company selling oxygen cylinders at a reasonable price.

"One tube containing 1 m3 of oxygen is sold at a reasonable price, around Rp. 4.5 million per tube. The complete one (regulator and trolley of oxygen cylinders) costs Rp. 6.5 million," he said.

After receiving this information, said Anton, his party then dispatched an intelligence team to conduct an investigation. The team then undercover buy 2 units of oxygen cylinders and finally managed to secure the perpetrators.

"When the cooperative actors were arrested, we also secured evidence in the form of 2 oxygen cylinders for Rp. 11 million," he said.

Anton explained that after the arrest his party immediately coordinated with the Surabaya Police. Currently, the perpetrators have been handed over to the Surabaya Police Satreskrim for further legal proceedings.

"This activity was carried out by the Surabaya Kejari in accordance with the orders of the Indonesian Attorney General to support PPKM Level 4 to take action against anyone who tries to hoard, play with prices and hinder the distribution of medicines and medical devices related to handling COVID-19," he said.
