Denies COVID-19 Made By China And The US To Destroy Islam, Mahfud MD: All Religions Affected!

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD denied that COVID-19 was deliberately created to destroy the existence of Muslims in the world by China and the United States.

According to him, many countries in the world whose occupations are predominantly non-Muslim have also experienced cases of virus transmission that have caused death.

Some of those countries are China; India with a Hindu majority society; America, Germany, and France where the population is mostly Catholic Christians; and Japan, where most of the population adheres to the Sinto religion.

"This is not a conspiracy from one religion to another. Because all religions are affected," said Mahfud during the West Java-wide Religious Virtual Gathering which was broadcast on YouTube Istiqomah TV, Sunday, July 25.

He also denied that COVID-19 was God's army to kill infidels, as was an issue that had circulated some time ago among the public. The former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) said that this virus will not see whether those exposed are diligent in worshiping or not.

Mahfud gave an example, many scholars have died due to COVID-19 even though they often worship and maintain their ablution. One of the scholars he mentioned was Sheikh Ali Jaber.

"Who doubts. He keeps his ablution, fasts diligently, prays diligently, da'wah day and night, he believes that COVID exists, wears a mask, performs ablution, it's also affected," he said.

"In Saudi Arabia people pray diligently, in Iran thousands of people have prayed, thousands of people are immediately infected and many died. Why do they use the same carpet and prayer mat, take turns and then the virus spreads to the carpet and people prostrate there, they come home and get sick and died," added Mahfud.

Furthermore, Mahfud also stated that the Jabbariyah sect believed that COVID-19 occurred by the will of Allah and Qodiriyyah who believed that this virus was contagious because human will was no longer important. Most importantly, continued Mahfud, currently all parties are working hand in hand to deal with COVID-19.

Moreover, based on the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad, all Muslims must avoid danger and maintain safety. "Separate sick and healthy camels because sick ones can be contagious. If a village has an epidemic, don't enter it outside and don't enter it outside so it doesn't infect each other," explained Mahfud.

"Well, those are the brothers that we are now taking together and have become a common understanding. The Qodiriyyah and Jabbariyah sects are not important because this is a fact in our place. Let's build our togetherness," he concluded.
