The special library was inaugurated at Building E of the Ministry of Culture, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (20/7). Its presence is directed to become a center for documentation, research, and reference for Indonesian culture.
Minister of Culture Fadli Zon said that many government issuances have not been optimally utilized because they are stored in different locations.
"Many books, research results, transliteration of manuscripts, and cultural publications published by the country are scattered in various places," said Fadli.
According to Fadli, the collection needs to be collected so that it is not only stored as an archive. The publication must be readable, researched, and reused by the public.
The Ministry of Culture will also digitize collections and integrate publications from technical implementing units in the regions. This step is aimed at making various cultural knowledge products found in one service network.
"We want to ensure that all knowledge products produced by the Ministry of Culture can be accessed by the public on an ongoing basis," he said.
Fadli said the library would be developed as a study room, research, and reference center. The collection includes ministry publications from various periods.
Head of the National Library E. Aminudin Aziz said his agency would assist in managing the Ranggawarsita Library. Support includes institutional development, improvement of librarian competence, and service development.
At the inauguration, the Ministry of Culture received a Library Identification Certificate from the National Library. The certificate is an official recognition and the basis for the development and development of the library network.
