Hospital Is Full So Many People Who Have Not Been Vaccinated Are Called Luhut As A Factor In The Increasing Death Rate Due To COVID-19

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said the death toll from COVID-19 had increased significantly over the past week. There are a number of reasons, one of which is the full capacity of the hospital.

This was conveyed when Luhut gave directions to provincial leaders in Java-Bali as well as related ministries and institutions to follow up on the spread of COVID-19, especially the death rate.

"From the results of the team's research in the field, the death rate increased due to several factors, including the capacity of the hospital being full, patients who had poor saturation when they arrived, and died because they were not monitored while self-isolating at home," Luhut said in a written statement quoted on Sunday. July 25.

He also said that on average, COVID-19 patients who died had not received vaccinations or suffered from congenital diseases. For this, Luhut asked for intervention efforts to reduce the death rate.

These intervention measures include increasing the ICU capacity of hospitals with central oxygen in areas with high mortality rates, providing centralized isolation, and monitoring high-risk patients who are self-isolating.

In addition, the Health Service was asked to coordinate with the TNI to obtain access to free drug packages from the President. The PPKM Task Force (Satgas) at the village level must be reactivated and carry out close monitoring of every resident who is indicated to have COVID-19 symptoms.

Not only that, the government will periodically implement mortality monitoring which includes the number of deaths that have been vaccinated, comorbid cases, age classification, availability of access to drugs, oxygen treatment, disease staging and exposure to cytokine storms and location of death.

This is implemented so that the government can take strategic, comprehensive and targeted mitigation steps.

"The key in dealing with this pandemic is discipline and working hand in hand. By jointly and consistently carrying out and improving testing and tracing, it is hoped that this link will be broken," concluded Luhut.
