Mahfud MD: There Is A Group Of People Who Want To Provoke, Always State That Every Government Policy Is Wrong

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD said that his party knew that there was currently an action plan being held only to provoke the public during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mahfud suspects that this group wants to take advantage of the unrest of the people whose mobility is limited due to the policy of implementing restrictions on community activities (PPKM).

"The government knows that a group of people have a desire to take advantage of the situation," Mahfud said in a virtual press conference, Saturday, July 24.

Mahfud said, this group did not purely take action to voice aspirations. "The problem is that they only want to oppose, take advantage of the situation. Whatever the government needs is attacked, there is something like that," said Mahfud.

Actually, said Mahfud, the government also knows that there are people's aspirations who are worried about the economic and health difficulties experienced during the pandemic. The government is also open and responds to all aspirations.

However, Mahfud admits that not all aspirations can be accommodated. Because, sometimes the aspirations of one and another conflict. Therefore, Mahfud asked the public to be careful if there are actions that always oppose any government decision.

"We have to be careful because this kind of group, this impure group, is always a provocation and states that every government policy is wrong," said Mahfud.

Moreover, Mahfud suggested that aspirations during this pandemic period be conveyed through or through communication channels that are in accordance with health protocols.

"For example, through virtual meetings, webinars, dialogues on television, maintaining health protocols, through social media, that's welcome," he said.
