BEKASI - West Java (Jabar) Governor Ridwan Kamil visited a number of areas in Bekasi Regency and City to directly provide basic food assistance to a number of residents affected by the COVID-19 pandemic using motorbikes.

"I think that by combing specifically those who are not included in the formal data, it can be a special spirit for those who are not represented in the formal system, because there are always people in this situation, such as traders whose ID cards from outside are not included in the local register," said Ridwan Kamil. who is familiarly called Kang Emil, in Bekasi quoted by Antara, Friday, July 23.

Kang Emil directly met with residents and handed over food and cash assistance in the districts of Serang Baru, Setu, Central Cikarang, and South Cikarang, Bekasi Regency as well as Bantargebang and Jatiasih Subdistricts, Bekasi City.

The West Java governor also visited a family who was undergoing self-isolation in the Bantargebang area. The entire visit was a journey of 50 kilometers.

Kang Emil said that as a leader, he planned to routinely go down and provide direct assistance to residents during the extension of the Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) policy.

According to him, by going down directly he could find out the difficulties of residents in the field whose economy was affected during the pandemic. By using a motorbike, his party can also monitor more closely the process of implementing PPKM policies in the regions.

"We want to encourage and empathize with the community, even though we understand that it is not seen (helping) is said, it is seen (helping) is said. It's better to just do it even if it is said," he said.

The recipient of the assistance from the Governor of West Java, Eka (52) admitted that he was surprised by the sudden arrival of the Governor. The resident of Cicau Village, Central Cikarang District, admitted that he was preparing to cook when the number one person in West Java came to him.

"I was surprised who I was because I was wearing a mask. When I opened it, it turned out to be Mr. Ridwan Kamil. It felt like a dream," he said.

Head of RW 01 Sukasejati Village, South Cikarang District, Bekasi Regency, Anang admitted that he was nervous, but still dared to greet Kang Emil while resting at a roadside stall.

"I greeted them and I was given basic necessities, including my residents who were still around the stall. The majority of the people here trade and farm. It's nice that there are officials who care. Thank God, if assistance comes from the center and provinces in my area," he said.
