Seeing The Readiness Of Malls In Jakarta To Reopen 15 June

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will only open a mall or shopping center during the transitional PSBB period on June 15. A number of places that will open are dine-in and retail restaurants.

Meanwhile, grocery stores, pharmacies, and take away restaurants did not experience closure during the previous PSBB phase, and will continue to open. Then, there are places that have not yet been decided to open on June 15, namely cinemas, gyms, karaoke places, children's playgrounds, and the like.

Ellen Hidayat, head of the DKI Shopping Center Management Association, said that his party had compiled a health protocol towards a productive and safe community for COVID-19.

"The shopping center preparations are preparing all the facilities and equipment needed to follow the mandatory health protocols and training employees," said Ellen when confirmed by VOI, Monday, June 8.

Then, mall and shopping center managers will notify tenants or retailers about the opening plan, so that tenants can prepare employees and also products to be sold.

"Retailers must also follow health protocols that have been set by the government based on the type of business," he said.

The protocol is that every shop owner must carry out body temperature checks on employees on duty and visitors who will enter the shop. Employees are also required to wear a mask and face shield when working.

Retail owners must also provide a hand sanitizer or sink for washing hands. The number of visitors who come and the cashier line must also be arranged in order to implement a safe distance.

Ellen also asked retailers to prioritize cashless payments to minimize transmission of COVID-19 through cash circulation. Then, the capacity of elevators and escalators is also limited by marking the distance.

"Apart from the facilities, the mall has also made signs or directions, so that if visitors follow the procedures that have been directed, of course the health protocols that must be followed will run well," said Ellen.

Especially for restaurant owners in malls, continued Ellen, they are required to rearrange the chairs and tables of customers who eat on the spot with a reduction in capacity of 50 percent.

Furthermore, the mall manager also has a COVID-19 control team as well as a security team that will help oversee the density of visitors and the obligations of visitors to carry out health protocols in the mall.

"Considering that all shopping centers also have moral obligations and responsibilities to tenants and employees and the public, it can be said that all malls will also be open on that date," he said.
