COVID-19 Update As Of July 23: 49,071 New Cases, 1,566 Deaths Increase

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of today. A total of 274,246 specimens were examined today. As a result, there were 49,071 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 3,082,410 people and 569,910 active cases," said Ministry of Health data, Friday, July 23.

Today's recovered cases increased by 39,988 cases, bringing the total to 2,431,911 recovered people. Then, the positive confirmed cases who died increased by 1,566 people and the total was 80,598 people.

The province with the most new cases was in West Java with 8,925 cases and a total of 556,180 cases. Followed by DKI Jakarta which has 8,033 new cases with a total of 778,520 cases. East Java has 6,912 new cases and a total of 266,641 cases. Then, Central Java has 4,498 new cases and a total of 343,350 cases.

The province with the most recovered cases today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an additional 14,442 recovered cases. Followed by West Java with an increase of 6,875 recovered cases, Central Java with an additional 4,095 recovered cases, and East Java with an additional 3,085 recovered cases.

No province has reported no new cases as of today. In addition, the number of specimens that have been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigens has reached 24,388,300.

"Positive results per number of specimens examined or this week's positivity rate of 38.92 percent," he wrote.

The number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, was recorded at 267,866 people. Currently, 510 districts/cities from 34 provinces have COVID-19 cases.

To date, 43,717,254 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 17,154,145 people have received the second dose of vaccine. Meanwhile, the target for vaccination in Indonesia is 208,265,720 people.
