SOLO - The Surakarta City Government waives retribution fees for market traders affected by PPKM level 4 which is still being implemented.
"Compensation from the guardian (Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka) frees user fees for one month, namely in July," said Head of the Surakarta City Trade Office Heru Sunardi in Solo, quoted by Antara, Friday, July 23.
Heru admits that this condition will have an impact on decreasing local revenue (PAD).
"If the retribution is eliminated, there is a potential impact on PAD income in Solo, it's more than IDR 1 billion (per July), yes because the Surakarta City Government is responsible for traders who do not sell because it is related to the emergency PPKM and PPKM level 4 rules so that the retribution is released by Mr. mayor," he said.
To date, of the 44 traditional markets in Solo City, 14 of them are not operating following the implementation of a ban on non-essential sector operations during PPKM. Thus, there are about 6,000 traders who are forced not to sell.
"Yes, wait for when it opens, when will it be given an easing. I say wait until July 26, because there will be an evaluation related to PPKM level 4, we will synchronize with the central government whether there is any easing that can be done by the Surakarta City Government," said Heru.
With the ban, it means that there are only 30 traditional markets that continue to sell. However, he admitted, traders complained that the market was quieter than before the implementation of emergency PPKM and level 4 PPKM.
"According to traders' reports, because there are many roadblocks, people's purchasing power has decreased, so the market is quiet. However, traders continue to sell as usual," continued Heru.
Meanwhile, the availability of basic ingredients is ensured in a safe condition. In fact, according to Heru, the prices of basic commodities remained stable despite the closure of some roads.
