Viral Acts Of Thuggery Against Container Truck Drivers, Police Hunt For Perpetrators

JAKARTA - The act of thuggery against a truck driver is again viral on social media. The police immediately intervened and hunted down the perpetrators.

Based on the video uploaded to the Instagram account @recordjakarta, several truck drivers are said to have been victims of bullying by thugs.

The action of the thugs is said to have taken place in the Cilingcing area, North Jakarta, on Wednesday, July 21.

North Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Guruh Arif Darmawan, who confirmed the matter, said his members had investigated the matter. The perpetrators are currently in pursuit.

"The members moved last night, hopefully the perpetrators will be caught soon," said Kombes Guruh, Thursday, July 22.

However, Guruh said that until now there has been no information about the amount of losses from the truck driver. Because, until now they have not made an official report.

"There has been no incoming report," said Guruh.

For information, the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has instructed the entire Regional Police and the Resort Police and ranks to eradicate acts of thuggery that are troubling the public.

"All Polda and Polres in the ranks must take firm action against disturbing acts of thuggery. This is to ensure safety and provide a sense of calm to the community," said Sigit.

The order was issued after the National Police Chief was called by President Joko Widodo. Because, at that time, there were many truck drivers who complained about the rise of illegal levies (extortion).
