JAKARTA - The dual polemic of the Rector of the University of Indonesia (UI) Ari Kuncoro over the changes to the UI Statute by President Joko Widodo is increasingly being highlighted.

PDIP politician Arteria Dahlan, assessed that the UI Chancellor was having problems because he was concurrently serving as Deputy President Commissioner of BRI before Government Regulation Number 75 of 2021 was revised.

"I think the Chancellor of UI is the problem. The PP No. 75/2021 was issued after the person in question held a concurrent position as Commissioner of BRI, regardless of the value debate, the content of the content of norms and the government's legal politics," said Arteria to reporters, Wednesday, July 21.

The member of Commission III of the DPR reminded that the University of Indonesia (UI) has a motto that is a value for students and their community, namely, Veritas (Truth), Probitas (Honest), Iustitia (Fair).

"The motto is what we are all proud of. But if you look at the rector's actions, it's very embarrassing. He's the President of the Republic of UI, a very high political position, how come he still wants to take the post of commissioner of a BUMN which incidentally is a minister's subordinate. I still feel humiliated, " said Arteria.

Arteria suggested that Ari Kuncoro resign as rector if he had other wishes. Because it is considered to be overwhelmed if you take care of both.

"Just taking care of UI if it's really taken care of is very less time, especially if you have to share your attention even though you are a commissioner," said Arteria.

As an alumni of the UI Faculty of Law, Arteria said that the dual position was an act against the law. Because, this dual position still uses the old statute, namely PP No.68/2013. For the sake of the law, he said, the Minister of Education and Culture and Research and Technology concerned should have been dismissed.

"All receipts made against the law can be categorized as corrupt behavior, you know. See article 2 or article 3 of the Corruption Law," he said.

This problem, continued Arteria, could actually be solved if the Minister of Education and Culture, Research and Technology, Nadiem Makarim was firm and the State Minister for SOEs Erick Tohir also respected the law.

"It's a pity that Pak Jokowi is bothered with matters like this, even though he has assistants who should be able to keep things like this from happening," quipped Arteria.

For this reason, Arteria suggested that the yellow jacket students continue to voice untruths and use constitutional channels as an action effort.

"UI children have to be smart in mind and smart in action. You can do Judicial Review of PP to the Supreme Court, sue the decree to the Administrative Court, report maladministration to the Ombudsman and if there is corrupt behavior, report it to law enforcement," he explained.

"So Veritas, Probitas, Iustitia for UI students must be in every step of life and life. That's what distinguishes us from the others, right?," said Arteria.
