The Head of Transportation Agency Tuban Muji Slamet explained, the modification of road markings was carried out to prevent motorists from crowding into the motorbike stopping room, especially during a red light.

"This is an innovation in the context of physical distancing in traffic and transportation areas. So that these motorcyclists have a distance between one rider and another," said Muji, as quoted by VOI on the website of the Transportation Agency, Tuban, Saturday, June 6.

If you look around, the stop line markers for this motorcycle look similar to the starting grid on the MotoGP race track. Where the Transportation Agency, made a special area measuring 4x5 meters, with a distance between riders of about 1.6 meters.

"This is still being tested. The goal is to educate and remind people during the Covid-19 pandemic to always implement health protocols wherever they are, including on roads, especially in traffic light areas at red lights," explained Muji.

Motorists will also be monitored via CCTV cameras installed at the intersection. If there are drivers who violate or do not stop right at the stop line, they will receive a warning from the loudspeaker at a red light.

He added, the application of physical distancing in traffic light is part of the concept of "Transportation Management Towards a Culture of Order and New Habits of Superior Tuban (MANTAP BERSATU)". This is also fully supported by the Tuban Police Traffic Unit.

"This is part of the application of the new normal which is packaged creatively. The idea came from the Dishub and we thought it would not hurt to try it too. Now it is still socializing so we also support it, "said Head of Traffic Police of Tuban Police, AKP Argo Budi Sarwono.

It is hoped that the implementation of this system can raise public awareness so that they can drive orderly in the midst of a pandemic and keep their distance. "And when traffic is also wearing masks to help accelerate the handling of the corona virus in Tuban," added Argo.
