Sanna Marin Becomes The Youngest Prime Minister In The World

JAKARTA - At a relatively young age, Sanna Marin succeeded in becoming the Prime Minister for Finland. If inaugurated later, Sanna Marin will become the youngest PM in the world who is still 34 years old.

Marin followed French President Emmanuel Macron and Supreme Leader of North Korea Kim Jong-un to become the youngest leaders in the world. Before being elected, Marin was the Minister of Transport for Finland from the Social Democratic Party.

The party that both supports and belongs to Marin, the Social Democracy Party, is the largest party in the five-member coalition. Besides the youngest PM, Marin is also the third female government leader in Finland.

After emerging as Finland's largest party in elections held in April 2019, the Social Democratic Party could appoint one of its own members to the post of prime minister in the nation of 5.5 million people.

The appointment of Sanna Marin as PM came after Antti Rinne resigned on Tuesday 3 December. One of the parties in his coalition said that they no longer believed in Rinne's leadership because they had failed to handle the strike of postal workers.

"We have a lot of work to rebuild trust. I never thought about my age or gender, I thought about the reasons I went into politics and the things that earned us the trust of voters," Marin explained. December 9, 2019.

Marin's political career in Finland began when he was trusted to head the council in the city of Tampere when he was 27 years old. Marin took over the government amidst a three-day strike. The Finnish Industry Confederation stated that as a result of the strike, the company suffered a loss of approximately USD550 million.

The youngest female leader in the world before was New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern. She was elected PM at the age of 37 and became the world's youngest female prime minister. Indeed Ardern was involved in politics at a very young age.

At the tender age of 18, Ardern joined the Labor Party. In 2008, Ardern was also elected to parliament and became the youngest member. His dream to get rid of poverty that made him enter the world of politics at such a young age.
