NTB - The Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of the NTB Police is now investigating the criminal element related to the incident of an argument between Commission I Member of the NTB DPRD, Najamuddin Mustafa with the Emergency PPKM insulation officer on Jalan Ahmad Yani, Mataram City, Thursday, July 15 yesterday.
"So the case is still under our investigation. We are investigating the alleged criminal element. If there is, we will process it," said Director General of the NTB Regional Police Kombes Hari Brata in Mataram as reported by Antara, Friday, July 16.
Najamuddin Mustafa's argument with officers took place at the Mataram City Emergency PPKM blocking post. The video footage circulating shows Najamuddin and his driver driving a black car and dealing directly with the blocking post officer.
The debate was allegedly due to Najamuddin being unable to show the COVID-19 vaccine certificate to the officers. This also prevented him from entering Mataram City and required him to turn the vehicle around.
Najamuddin had asked the officers to immediately be vaccinated on the spot. However, the officers looked confused because there were no vaccination facilities available at the isolation post.
The officer also advised him to do a rapid antigen test on the spot. Najamudin and his driver seemed willing.
However, seeing many other motorists highlighting the incident and worried that the conduciveness at the isolation post would be disturbed, the officers then decided to give dispensation to Najamuddin and his driver to continue their journey to Mataram City.
Returning to Kombes Hari Brata, the investigation of alleged criminal elements will be seen from the basis of officers carrying out inspections and supervision at the Mataram City Emergency PPKM blocking post.
This is in accordance with the rules contained in Law Number 6/2018 concerning Health Quarantine and its derivative regulations in the regions.
Sanctions have also been outlined in the Governor of West Nusa Tenggara Regulation Number 50/2020 concerning the Implementation of Discipline and Law Enforcement of Health Protocols as an Effort for the Prevention and Control of COVID-19 and the NTB Regional Regulation Number 7/2020 concerning the Control of Infectious Diseases.
Now the police, said Hari, are scheduling a request for clarification to the insulation officer who was arguing with Najamuddin Mustafa.
"Including the members of the council, we will also ask for clarification," he said.
Separately, when confirmed, Najamuddin Mustafa stated his willingness to provide clarification to the police. "If he is clarifying, we are very happy, we are ready, so that it is clear," said Najamuddin.
However, he slightly conveyed that the incident of arguing with officers, which was recorded on video by residents and spread on social media, was his spontaneous attitude.
"So it was not my intention to go against the law or against the officers. But it came spontaneously from me, not planned," he said.
He said the thing that made him act this way was because he was carrying out his responsibilities as a member of the NTB DPRD.
"At that time, we were both carrying out our duties. As a member of the DPRD, I had to assume the responsibility of the people that had been given to me. So it was impossible for me to return to the East again," he said.
