Vice President Asks Banten To Be More Intensive In Handling COVID-19

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin asked the Banten Provincial Government to be more intensive in handling the transmission of COVID-19 because the number of cases in the area was the fourth highest in Indonesia.

"In Banten, the transmission is still high enough to require more handling," said Vice President Ma'ruf in a virtual coordination meeting with Banten Governor Wahidin Halim, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, July 14.

The vice president said the high number of transmission cases was due to the low compliance of the people of Banten in implementing health protocols.

In addition, the Vice President also emphasized that the Banten Provincial Government must increase testing, tracing, and treatment or 3T to local residents.

"If this testing is small, it means that there is also little that can be known. Therefore, this is also a concern. Based on data from the Ministry of Health, I see that in Banten (3T) it is still rather low," said the Vice President.

Regarding the COVID-19 vaccination, the Vice President asked the Banten Provincial Government to accelerate the provision of vaccines to the public so that communal immunity or herd immunity can be realized immediately.

The vice president said that in Banten, at least 8,000,000 local residents should be vaccinated with a target of 20,000 people per day.

"The vaccination should be in Banten, with a population of around 11.9 million people, to achieve herd immunity, the vaccination must reach eight million people with a target of 20,000 people per day," said the Vice President.

Based on the report received, the Vice President stated that vaccination in Banten until Monday, July 12, only 1.15 million people were included in the category of health workers and the elderly (elderly).

"Considering the low vaccination coverage for the elderly, it is still far from the target, this also needs attention," he emphasized.
