JAKARTA - The Medan City Government, North Sumatra has prepared an option for social assistance in the form of cash. Later, the money will be given to residents and workers affected by the Implementation of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM).

"Is it more effective to use cash, because it can be sent directly to people's accounts. This is one option," said Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution at Medan Merdeka Square, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, July 14.

However, his party is still reviewing whether the assistance will be given in cash or basic necessities.

"If we send cash, they will spend it, we have to think about it. Today we send it, tomorrow the crowd will shop again. We are still reviewing this," he said.

Regarding the number of recipients of Emergency PPKM social assistance, he admitted that until now he had not received a report.

"I haven't monitored the number yet, yesterday it was completed. I'll tell you later," he said.

Emergency PPKM was implemented in Medan City from 12 to 20 July 2021 as an effort to suppress the spread of COVID-19 in the area.
