Deputy Governor Claims DKI Ready To Run If Emergency PPKM Is Extended

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria emphasized the readiness of the DKI Provincial Government if the Emergency PPKM was extended. This discourse has emerged and is currently under review by the central government.

"The DKI Provincial Government is always ready to support policy decisions taken by the central government. Moreover, regarding the Emergency PPKM policy, we will always be ready and make the best contribution to the interests of the community," said Riza in South Jakarta, Wednesday, July 14.

Deputy Governor Riza explained, so far the central government has determined that the Emergency PPKM is valid until the 20th. DKI, he said, is still waiting for a follow-up from the center regarding the extension of the restriction.

According to him, there are still many residents who move out of their homes for economic reasons. Therefore, Riza emphasized that DKI is preparing to distribute social safety nets, namely cash social assistance (BST).

"Of course the DKI Provincial Government has programs, including cash assistance, other economic assistance, economic stimulus that has been running so far. In the future, we will support the cash social assistance program. God willing, it will be continued soon, we are waiting for the central government's decisions and policies," said he. Riza.

Previously reported, the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani had raised the discourse of extending the Emergency PPKM. He said the emergency PPKM had to be effective. If the spread of COVID-19 is still high, it is possible for the government to extend the Emergency PPKM for up to 6 weeks.

"Emergency PPKM for 4-6 weeks is carried out to contain the spread of COVID-19 cases. Community mobility is expected to decrease significantly," Sri Mulyani said in a joint working meeting with the DPR's Budget Agency, Monday, July 12.

Responding to this, the Spokesperson for the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Jodi Mahardi said the government would evaluate the Emergency PPKM before it was extended.

"We are still waiting for the Emergency PPKM which is still valid until July 20. Before that day, we will evaluate whether the Emergency PPKM will be extended or not," Jodi told reporters.
