South Sulawesi COVID-19 Cases Increase By 533 People

MAKASSAR - The South Sulawesi COVID-19 Task Force (Satgas) released that the daily cases of COVID-19 in the region were increasing. As of Tuesday, June 13, new cases reached 533 people who were confirmed positive for COVID-19.

Hundreds of positive people for COVID-19 came from examining 3,019 specimens. The number of examinations is somewhat lower than the day before, which was 3,361 specimens, but the number of confirmed COVID-19 patients was 289 people.

"The current case is still fluctuating," said Head of the Public Health Division of the South Sulawesi Health Service, Husni Thamrin, in Makassar, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, July 13.

The increasing number of cases in South Sulawesi is confirmed to be followed by an increase in the Rt number, 1.35.

In addition, COVID-19 again claimed the lives of four South Sulawesi residents, bringing the total number of patients who died from the corona virus to 1,043 people.

Husni said 158 people recovered from COVID-19, so the total people of South Sulawesi who have succeeded in continuing their lives are 64,443 people.

The trend of increasing COVID-19 cases requires the Makassar City Government to adopt a PPKM (Enforcement of Community Activity Restrictions) policy which limits the movement of people starting in the afternoon or at 17.00 WITA.

This has also reaped various responses from the community, some of whom did not accept the implementation of PPKM. It is considered suffocating the small people, because it limits movement and the economy is declining.
