JAKARTA - The wife of the late Epy Kusnandar, Karina Ranau, came to the Pancoran Police to follow up on the case of persecution that befell her. Accompanied by a new lawyer, Karina admitted that her mental state was not stable and still felt afraid after the incident at her stall.

"The feeling of being suspicious is still haunting, there is. Until now I am traumatized, afraid to walk alone," said Karina Ranau when met at the Pancoran Police, South Jakarta, Tuesday, July 7.

The impact of the persecution made Karina very alert to the situation around her, even for small things.

"So if you have to look back, there is a little sound I'm afraid of. Heeh," he said.

This trauma even changed Karina's daily routine in managing her business. He who is usually at the stall since early morning, now chooses to come more in the afternoon to avoid fear.

"Usually I go to the warung after the incident at 6 in the morning, sometimes at 7, this is a little afternoon at 12, sometimes at 1. What is it, trying to digest the incident, afraid," said Karina.

Karina had considered consulting a psychiatrist to recover her mental health. However, she admitted that she was still trying to strengthen herself first before deciding to return to a psychologist.

"I originally wanted to go to a psychologist, but I still restrained myself. Because when my late husband died, I also went to a psychologist to get up and get better and I'm already better. I avoid going to the psychologist, but if I really need it, maybe I will go there," he explained.

Karina's lawyer, Hendro Widodo, emphasized that the biggest loss suffered by his client was not about material, but psychological and self-esteem.

"The biggest loss is that the dignity of his family was dropped, his mother was sick, yes, the pain of thinking was the biggest. We are not talking about material here, we are talking about the legal process," said Hendro.

Hendro added that his client still feels shocked every time he remembers the moment of violence.

"Our clients have forgiven the perpetrators in a human way, but in a legal process they still ask for justice because the fulfillment of the rights of our clients is when the perpetrators are punished," he continued.

This case is now a special attention for the police. Pancoran Police Chief Kompol Mansur ensured that he would escort this case of violence against women until it was completed.

"Of course, related to the problem of persecution of women, we will prioritize. It must be completed even to the court," concluded Kompol Mansur.
