Rapid Action Team Overwhelmed In Handling Emergency Situations, Public Health Center In Surabaya Opens 24 Hours Service

SURABAYA - The Surabaya City Health Office said that two health services were opened at the puskesmas for 24 hours, especially during night operating hours, namely the general poly and emergency services.

"The services that are opened are only general poly and emergency conditions because it is not possible to do anything other than emergency things at night," said Head of the Health Service (Dinkes) Febria Rachmanita in Surabaya quoted by Antara, Tuesday, July 13.

Febria ensured that Puskesmas in all areas of Surabaya City were ready to serve residents who wanted treatment for up to 24 hours. Because of that, he said, his party is currently going to divide the guard schedule into three shifts, but for now, two shifts are still being applied.

"God willing, it will be ready. We plan to divide it into three shifts, but for now, because we still lack health workers, we have 2 shifts first," said Febria.

According to him, the operation of the puskesmas for up to 24 hours is because the Rapid Action Team (TGC) is currently unable to handle emergency situations. So, he continued, the puskesmas was operated as a TGC point in the working area of the puskesmas.

"We saw that the condition of TGC was already overwhelmed, finally all puskesmas became TGC points in the area," said Febria.

Febria recounted that during a review, a resident came to the puskesmas to report that a family member had decreased oxygen saturation in his house. Receiving this, the health center immediately moved quickly to pick up the family member.

"Friends of the puskesmas using an ambulance immediately picked up their family members, then they will be referred to the Shooting Field Hospital," he said.

In addition, he said, the public can also take care of death certificates, either at night or in the morning. In accordance with the instructions of the Mayor of Surabaya, if there are residents who die, they must be immediately evacuated and taken to the funeral home in Keputih.

"Residents can come here to take care of death certificates, either at night or the next morning, to collect the bodies later from the social service," he said.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi, accompanied by the Head of the Surabaya Health Office, briefly reviewed public health services (PKM) at a number of health centers in the city of Surabaya, Monday, July 12 evening.

One of the health centers visited by Mayor Eri was the Manukan Kulon Health Center, Tandes District. He saw several residents using the health center services that night. He emphasized that the puskesmas in Surabaya were ready to open 24-hour non-stop services.

"Later, every puskesmas will be prepared by kelurahan/subdistrict officers and Satpol PP, so that if at any time residents need medical assistance or pick up patients and corpses, they can be directly assisted. This must be handled together. We will maximize it to save Surabaya residents," said Eri .
