Caracal Heli Deployed To Evacuate The Body Of 2 MIT Poso Terrorists

JAKARTA - A Caracal helicopter unit was deployed by the TNI to evacuate the bodies of two members of the Poso East Indonesia Mujahideen terrorist group (MIT) in the Tokasa Mountains area, Parimo Regency, Central Sulawesi.

"The helicopter was used because the location for the evacuation of bodies was in a ravine more than 50 meters deep," said Head of the General Information Division (Kabidpenum) of the TNI Information Center (Puspen) Marine Colonel (KH) Edys Riyanto as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, July 13.

Deputy Commander of the Special Task Force for the Special Joint Operations Command (Koopsgabsus) Tricakti Lt. Col. Inf. Romel J. Wardhana led and directly supervised the evacuation of the two bodies of Rukli and Ahmad Panjang, members of MIT Poso.

Both were shot dead by TNI soldiers Koopsgabsus Tricakti at the MIT Terrorist Camp, Tokasa Mountains, Sunday, July 11.

In the evacuation, the terrain that the Caracal Helicopter had to traverse was quite difficult because of the narrow path so that the helicopters were difficult to maneuver, said PNB Lieutenant Colonel Imanuel Simarmata, the pilot captain who immediately flew the helicopter to the landing point in the Tokasa Mountains.

"Natural factors vary with valleys surrounded by dense tree vegetation, dense forests, and valleys that are quite steep and closed, as well as very steep cliffs along the evacuation route which also hinder the evacuation process," said Lt. Col. Pnb Imanuel Simarmata as quoted from the same written statement. .

Therefore, said Lieutenant Colonel Inf. Romel J. Wardhana, Koopsgabsus Tricakti will determine the closest point to the location of the body and use hoist cranes and basket stretchers to speed up evacuation.

"The ranks of the Tricakti Koopsgabsus together with the TNI and Polri at the location until Tuesday morning continued to try to evacuate the bodies of two MIT terrorists from the TKP (the crime scene), including being assisted by people living around the Tokasa Mountains, who spontaneously volunteered to help evacuate the bodies," said Romel.

The bodies of the two Poso MIT members will be taken to the Bhayangkara Hospital of the Central Sulawesi Police for identification and autopsy if they are successfully evacuated.

Koopsgabssus Tricakti raided the Poso MIT headquarters in the Tokasa Mountains, Tanah Lanto Village, Parimo Regency, Central Sulawesi, Sunday.

"This morning's raid (11/7) there were about five MIT terrorist groups resting, the two terrorists who died were named Rukli and Ahmad Panjang, the rest are thought to have fled," said Commander of Koopsgabssus Tricakti Major General Richard TH Tampubolon, Sunday, July 11.

The Tricakti 2 team led by First Lieutenant Inf. David Manurung from the Kopassus unit managed to infiltrate the Poso terrorist hideout and camp by relying on a small unit of five people after passing through difficult terrain and dense forest.

"After being believed to be correct, Dantim Tricakti 2 Lt. Inf. David Manurung immediately gave the order to open fire to paralyze the MIT group," said the Commander of Koopsgabssus Tricakti.

The Commander of Koopsgabssus Tricakti believes that three of the three MIT members who escaped were injured. The reason is, there are traces of blood splattered around the ambush location.
