New Jakarta COVID-19 Cases Translucent 14,619, Deputy Governor: Because Our PCR Tests Are 20 Times The Standard

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Province recorded an addition of 14,619 new COVID-18 cases today. Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria, said the high number of new cases was caused by the high number of examinations.

"Today's positivity has increased to 14,619, this is a record. But please note, this is partly because our PCR test is the highest, almost 20 times the standard set by WHO", said Riza at DKI City Hall, Central Jakarta, Monday, July 12.

Riza said the high number of testing was one of the strategies for controlling the pandemic because cases could be detected and handled more.

Although, he admitted that the increasing number of active cases made the need for COVID-19 treatment facilities higher and stocks running low. The government often increases the capacity of beds and other facilities.

"Even though it is indeed quite difficult for us to continue to improve various facilities, starting from hospitals, beds, ICU, oxygen, medicines, vitamins, and especially health workers, it is not easy, it cannot just be transformed, because we must have special competencies and requirements. through a process that is not easy", said Riza.

Riza hopes that the massive number of cases detected will immediately reduce and break the chain of transmission of COVID-19. "Hopefully in the future, the positive cases will decrease, the active cases. Once again, this is our way", he continued.

It is known, although the number of new cases of COVID-19 is high, the number of recovered cases in Jakarta today is higher at 20,478. Then, the number of death cases increased by 123 cases.

As of today, the number of active cases in Jakarta decreased by 5,923 cases, so the number of active cases to date is 82,687 people who are still being treated/isolated.

Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed cases in Jakarta to date is 677,061 cases. Of the total number of positive cases, a total of 584,912 people were declared cured with a cure rate of 86.4 percent, and a total of 9,462 people died with a death rate of 1.4 percent.

The positivity rate or percentage of positive cases in the last week in Jakarta was 43.1 percent, while the percentage of positive cases in total was 14.3 percent.
