Doubtful Doctor's Degree, Who Is Lois Owien Who Doesn't Believe In COVID-19?

JAKARTA - Doctor Lois Owien was arrested by the police and the case is now being handled by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police. Doctor Lois was arrested after becoming the talk of the audience on social media after stating that he did not believe in the COVID-19 outbreak.

This statement was made by Lois Owien when he was a guest on a talk show uploaded on the Hotman Paris Official Youtube channel, Friday, July 9.

At that time, Hotman Paris asked a question about Dr. Lois Owien's opinion about COVID-19. He also loudly replied that he did not believe in the existence of COVID-19.

Lois Owien said the patient's death was not due to COVID-19, but due to interactions between drugs.

"For example, if you open the data in a hospital, there are more than 6 kinds of medicine," said Lois Owien.

His words suddenly made doctors and health workers who are fighting against COVID-19 furious. In fact, the title of Doctor was in doubt.

So, who is Lois Owien?

Having the full name Lois Owien, this woman has a nickname dr. Lois Anti Aging.

Lois graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Indonesian Christian University (UKI) in 2004, who continued his education on anti-aging medicine in Malaysia.

Even so, the scientific field taken by Dr. Lois Owien is still not recognized in Indonesia, as a specialist scientific field, but only equivalent to a master's degree. He also admitted that he did not practice at this time.

Judging from his alma mater and name, it is likely that Dr. Lois is a Christian, but this has not been confirmed.

Meanwhile, the official social media accounts that are confirmed to belong to Dr. Lois are Instagram @dr_lois7 and Twitter with the name @LsOwien.

Lois Owien's brief profile was also highlighted by a number of doctors and health workers.

One of them, Dr. Tirta Mandira Hudhi or known as Dr. Tirta. According to him, his medical degree is not clear let alone about his specialty. Because, Lois Owien does not have a registration certificate (STR) by the Indonesian Medical Council (KKI).

"Well, he's not a member of IDI. The STR is not clear, it's not clear which person he graduated from," said Dr. Tirta, confirmed by VOI, Monday, July 12.

Doctor Tirta revealed that in the 2017 data there was an STR on behalf of Lois. However, the following year the name did not appear again.

"STR is on behalf of Lois, but this Lois or not, we don't know. Is this Lois or not?," he said.

Doctor Tirta also objected to Lois Owien being called a doctor, because his academic origins were unclear and he did not have hours of practice.

"This is not a doctor, we object if he is called a doctor. Because this person is not clear which doctor graduated. If you want to be called a doctor from 2017 to 2021 where will he go? There is no practice, no seminars are taken, IDI is not extended," he explained.

It's also about the appendage behind his nickname, aging medicine.

"He admits that he is not a specialist and his doctor is questioned. He should not call him a doctor, if people call him a doctor, there is a list, he must be sworn in, there must be evidence of STR, there is evidence of KKI, that is a requirement and an oath Time to add a doctor on the ID card," concluded Dr. Tirta.
