Ministry Of Home Affairs Appoints Herman Hanafi As Acting Regent Of Bekasi After The Death Of Eka Supria Atmaja

JAKARTA - For the time being the Daily Executive (Plh) of the Bekasi Regency Secretary Herman Hanafi will replace the duties of the Bekasi Regent Eka S Atmaja as regional head.

This was conveyed by the Head of Information Center of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) Benny Irwan in Jakarta, Monday, July 12. "There is no leadership vacancy in Bekasi Regency because according to the legislation, currently the Plt Sekda will carry out the daily duties of the regional head. This is the initial policy."

On Sunday, July 11, as reported by Antara, the Regent of Bekasi, Eka S Atmaja died after being exposed to COVID-19.

In the near future they will send a letter to the Bekasi Regency Government so that the chair of leadership can be directly entrusted to the Plh Sekda.

"This morning there will be a letter or radiogram from the Ministry of Home Affairs to the Regional Government," he said.

After Atmaja's death, the Bekasi Regency Government practically did not have a regional leader due to the vacant position of deputy regent. Likewise, the seat of regional secretary was temporarily handed over to Hanafi in early July 2021, after the previous regional secretary Uju entered his retirement period.

Now Hanafi has to carry out another task as Plh regional head after Atmaja died due to exposure to Covid-19 last Sunday (11/7).
