Anies Baswedan Says Jakarta's COVID-19 Spike Makes Residents Aware Of Vaccines

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said the current surge in COVID-19 in the capital city has made citizens more aware of participating in the vaccination program.

He conveyed this when reviewing the implementation of mass vaccination at JIExpo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

"A high spike in COVID-19 makes people more aware that they must protect themselves," said Anies, Sunday, July 11.

In addition, the encouragement for vaccination is seen from the surrounding environment which also follows the vaccine. "Many neighbors have received vaccines. So, there are examples around them, because they see their families or neighbors taking vaccinations," Anies continued.

Anies invites other people who have not participated in the vaccination to immediately register through the JAKI application. In this application, residents can choose the location and time to be baptized.

"We want more people in Jakarta to carry out vaccinations faster. Currently, 5.4 million have received vaccines and we have to speed up faster, so that all of them get the vaccine," he said.

Continuing, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said that there were already 70 vaccination service locations with the ability to inject 400 to 1,000 doses per day per location.

DKI targets as many as 8.5 million citizens to have received vaccine injections by the end of the year. "We are optimistic that the target requested by Mr. Jokowi can be met. Every day the target is 100 thousand, we can fulfill it even up to 150 thousand per day," said Riza.

It is known that currently there are 5,441,693 people who have been vaccinated with the first dose in Jakarta through the national vaccination program. While the total dose of 2 has now reached 1,951,485 people

If classified, the achievement of vaccination for children aged 12-17 years, for dose 1 has been carried out as much as 9.3 percent. Then, citizens aged 18-59 years, for dose 1 has been carried out as much as 60.1 percent and dose 2 vaccination as much as 17.9 percent.

Meanwhile, in the elderly group, 65.8 percent of dose 1 had been vaccinated and 58.7 percent of dose 2 had been vaccinated. Meanwhile, the Gotong Royong vaccination for dose 1 has been given to 105,622 people and dose 2 for 40,734 people.
