AMBON - An individual from the Ambon City COVID-19 Task Force has been temporarily relieved. The sanction was given after the person concerned shouted at the women selling fish at Mardika Market, Ambon. Spokesman for the Ambon City COVID-19 Task Force, Joy Adriaansz in Ambon, Saturday, July 10, stated that posts that were widely shared by Ambonese netizens on social media platforms on Friday, July 9 generally criticized the actions of task force personnel who were considered disrespectful to women selling fish.
He said as a firm measure, the Ambon City COVID-19 Task Force, who shouted at the fish seller in the video, had been reprimanded and temporarily relieved of his duties to receive guidance. "The person concerned has now been relieved of his duties and is receiving training," he said.
Joy explained that the Mayor of Ambon and the Task Force team had held a meeting by inviting the women selling fish through a zoom meeting to apologize directly. Apologies are also conveyed to the entire community and citizens, for the viral incident.
"The Mayor on behalf of the City Government, the COVID-19 Task Force, has apologized to the fish traders as well as the people of Ambon city to be disturbed by the incident," he said.
