There Is A Potential For The COVID-19 Pandemic To Become An Endemic, Anies Baswedan Supports Research In DKI

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said his party would continue to support research related to COVID-19 in Jakarta. This is so that the pattern of spread and behavior of the virus can be known, making it easier to anticipate.

"We will continue to support various survey studies including clinical trials related to COVID-19 and Sars-CoV2," Anies said in an online discussion, Saturday, July 10.

The findings in the study, he said, also had various impacts, including the potential for the COVID-19 pandemic to become endemic. "If that happens, the handling strategy will be different from the current pandemic status," he said.

Anies also emphasized that all policies related to the COVID-19 pandemic in DKI Jakarta are always taken based on a scientific approach and the direction of scientists in their fields.

In addition, he also claims that he has always provided data transparency and this has become a principle for the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

"We will continue to adhere to this principle. Using a scientific approach and always being transparent because we believe this situation will not be resolved in a matter of weeks," he said.

According to him, with these principles, namely data transparency, scientific approach, and listening to scientists' directions, it is hoped that the public can believe in the handling of COVID-19 that he has done.

Moreover, in an effort to fight this virus, the public must put their trust in the government. "To be able to work together, the community must trust the government and the government must be trusted," said the former Minister of Education and Culture.

"The way is to convey everything as it is and convey it on the basis of evidence using the scientific method," Anies concluded.
