GARUT - The West Java Provincial Government has prepared a thousand oxygen cylinders to supply oxygen needs for COVID-19 patients who are receiving medical treatment at hospitals in Garut Regency.
"The governor wants to help out about a thousand tubes first, these thousand tubes are enough for two to three days," said Garut Regent Rudy Gunawan, quoted by Antara, Friday, July 9.
Garut Regency Government has so far needed enough oxygen cylinders to handle COVID-19 patients in a number of hospitals where there was a spike in patient cases due to exposure to COVID-19.
"Now hospitals in Garut that treat COVID-19 patients require approximately 300 tubes per day," he said.
The regent said that he had prepared a warehouse at the Garut Hall as a storage place for oxygen cylinders supply from the West Java Provincial Government to be sent according to the needs of hospitals or health centers in Garut.
"Now this will be used as an oxygen warehouse. What is meant by this oxygen warehouse is the oxygen provided by West Java Province to back up the existing oxygen," said Rudy.
He revealed that the mechanism for obtaining oxygen cylinders from the West Java Provincial Government was still a purchase transaction in accordance with the contract, after which oxygen could be sent to hospitals or health centers.
"Still, hospitals buy oxygen according to the contract, for example, now which health centers are lacking, we will send them, then we will send them from this pavilion," he said.
The Regent said the West Java Provincial Government had appointed a liaison officer in charge of supervising or assisting the implementation of the handling of COVID-19 in Garut Regency in accordance with the direction of Governor Ridwan Kamil.
The presence of the provincial-appointed officer, he said, would not only deal with COVID-19 during the Implementation of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM), but overall, including other deficiencies needed by Garut.
"He (governor) who gave us 'guidance', including the shortcomings that might occur in Garut, was 'backed up' by the Governor," said the Regent.
