Member Of The House Of Representatives F-PKS Netty Aher: Misguided If Foreigners Are Allowed To Enter Because Of The Vaccine Card

JAKARTA - House of Representatives Commission IX member Netty Prasetiyani Aher, assessed that the vaccine card, which is a condition for allowing foreign nationals (WNA) to enter Indonesia, does not guarantee that a person can be free from COVID-19 transmission.

The reason is, in the country itself, many people who have been vaccinated even up to stage two, are still exposed to the corona virus.

"So if it says foreigners can enter because they have a vaccine card, this is a misunderstanding," said Netty, Friday, July 9.

Netty then gave an example, the vaccination rate is relatively high in Bali, but the positive number of cases is also high.

Therefore, the West Java legislator criticized the government's discourse regarding the vaccine-based tourism program. Because, according to him, there is no definite health security guarantee.

"Remember that the government has said that the new variants come from abroad, including India and England. There should be a policy of prohibiting the entry of foreigners into the country like other countries do to protect the safety of the people," the deputy chairman of the PKS faction in the DPR urged

In addition, continued Netty, the entry of foreigners into the country deeply hurts the hearts of the Indonesian people who are undergoing the Implementation of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) for three weeks. The government seems increasingly inconsistent in implementing its own policies.

"How can the spike in cases be controlled if the potential source of transmission such as the entry of foreigners is still allowed. Emergency PPKM is like a half-hearted policy," said Netty.

Netty reminded that the arrival of foreign nationals could raise public doubts about the seriousness of the government in implementing Emergency PPKM.

"People's mobility in the country, including to earn a living for their families, is limited. WFH is one hundred percent, non-essential economic sectors are also limited. But why are foreigners allowed to enter on the grounds of working?," said Netty.
