JAKARTA - The police arrested three groups of fake PCR certificates and COVID-19 vaccines. These groups have been in action since early 2021.

"On average, since last March they have been operating," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus to reporters, Friday, July 9.

Of the three groups, four people were named as suspects. In fact, one of them is still a minor.

"There are 3 crime scenes with 4 suspects that we have secured. There is 1 that our DPO is pursuing at those 3 crime scenes. Why are we not presenting the others because they are minors," said Yusri.

These groups marketed PCR certificates and vaccines through the social media of each suspect. Many people are tempted to use their services because of their cheap prices.

"For the antigen swab, it is sold at a price of Rp. 60,000 for an antigen certificate. Then for PCR it is priced at Rp. 100 thousand and for this vaccination card, it is priced at Rp. 100 thousand," said Yusri.

Based on the results of the investigation and the interior, nearly 100 people have used the services of the suspects. Many people use fake certificates as a condition of travel.

"There are already around 97 people to hundreds, they have sold fake certificates like this," said Yusri.

"On average, they want to be used for long-distance travel, including going on a plane for example," continued Yusri.

So, for their actions, the perpetrators are suspected of having multiple articles. Investigators used Articles 263, 266, and 268 of the Criminal Code regarding document falsification.
