Aceh's Way Of Successfully Reducing Transmission Of COVID-19

JAKARTA - Aceh is the province with the smallest accumulation of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia. As of today, the total number of positive cases is only 20 people. Then, Aceh also did not experience the addition of new cases.

Acting Governor of Aceh Nova Iriansyah said the success of the local government in suppressing the COVID-19 case was the result of collaboration between the government and related stakeholders.

"There are also those who say that the factors of race or DNA, geography, climate, and the influence of other factors also support. Maybe that is true and we are grateful for that," Nova said in a video broadcast on the YouTube account of BNPB Indonesia, Friday, May 29.

Nova explained, there are six ways that the Aceh government has made the curve of the COVID-19 case sloping. First, Aceh moves quickly to provide facilities and infrastructure for handling this virus.

"Provision starts from opening a post as an information center, preparing a referral hospital, isolation room, and other necessities before someone is indicated as having been positive for COVID-19," he said.

Second, the attitude of the Acehnese people who are reactive to their respective health. Initially, he said, the people of Aceh were not sure about the transmission of COVID-19 in Aceh. However, after it was announced that this case had occurred, the people of Aceh were more anticipatory, alert, and more disciplined in preventing transmission.

Third, the Aceh regional government had imposed a curfew for five days, before the PSBB was implemented. Fourth, the Aceh government reacted quickly in the face of the COVID-19 outbreak, including preparing land for positive patients who died.

Fifth, the government has also succeeded in building preparedness for officers down to the village level. So that none of those suspected of having COVID-19 passed until the test results proved negative.

Finally, the amount of public support for the medical team. "Everything related to the work of the medical team, doctors, received support from all levels of society. Various assistance was channeled as a form of support and encouragement for medical personnel, including their families who were waiting at home," he concluded.
